COMMITMENT TO EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE

Oak Street’s clients deserve the best, and we are committed to consistently exceptional service. How is Oak Street’s Commitment to Exceptional Service experienced by our clients?

When we say we’re here for you, we mean it literally.
Estate issues don’t take weekends off. If a client’s mom is rushed to hospital or a client’s fiancé calls from her attorney’s office, you need advice that can’t wait for the next business day. We schedule our staff so that someone is always in the office or available by phone.

When you talk, we take the time to listen to what you say.
What an estate planning attorney does not know about a client can cost the client much, not only in taxes, but also, if not more importantly, in ensuring the client’s true intent is effectuated. We know the questions to ask because the client has no way of knowing what information is vital to his or her plan. For example, does a client own out-of-state real property that could result in an ancillary and costly probate proceeding? Does a client own a yacht onto which he invites others? Does a client own rental property, and is there a way to protect the client from liability associated with the renters? Does a client own a life insurance policy and is it owned in a manner to save estate taxes? Does a client want his or her spouse to have the flexibility to redistribute assets to a child with special needs? Who does the client want to determine his or her incapacity? Etcetera.

We take it on ourselves to update your other advisors.
Many adverse tax and planning consequences arise through transactions a client may undertake through other professional advisors. For example, a client’s tax and estate planning can be easily circumvented by an account being incorrectly titled as “joint tenants with rights of survivorship,” or as the beneficiaries of the client’s IRA being listed as the client’s children rather than the trust for the children. We work with our clients’ advisors to help ensure that intent and planning are not unintentionally circumvented.

If you haven’t had these discussions, it is time you do. Set up your initial meeting to discuss your planning and we will consult with you about protecting your assets, providing for your family, and achieving the peace of mind you and your loved ones deserve.
